What Candy.ai does better

Start with price. Their subscription page today reads $13.99 for a month, $8.99 a month if you buy three, and $3.99 a month if you buy twelve, each with 100 tokens a month and unlimited text messages. LORAX Premium is $29.99 a month in the US. Somebody paying yearly on their cheapest plan spends less in a year than a LORAX subscriber spends in two months, and that is a real argument we cannot answer with features.

The second advantage is reach. Candy.ai opens in a browser on a desktop, an Android phone, a work laptop, a tablet in the kitchen. Their own answer to the question is that no installation is needed, and their site walks you through adding it to your home screen on either mobile platform. There is no App Store account in the way and no review process deciding what ships. If you are not carrying an iPhone, this comparison is already over: LORAX does not run anywhere else, and we have nothing to offer you.

They also publish more of a shop window than we do. Their English sitemap lists 253 character pages you can read before paying, the site itself is published in 13 languages, and a free trial is offered up front. LORAX shows you a cast page and then makes you wait for somebody to notice you, which is worse if what you want is to start immediately.

What LORAX does differently

• Nobody is sitting on a page waiting. Each character has a time zone, a sleep window and a job, and across a day one is online for about a sixth of their waking hours. Write at 3 a.m. and the answer comes after they wake up, sometimes short and half-asleep.

Who should pick which

Pick Candy.ai if you want access from anything with a browser, at the lowest price on this page, with a catalog you can look through before you commit. That is a sane set of priorities and their product is built for it.

Pick LORAX if you want the feeling of being contacted rather than the feeling of opening a page. You are on an iPhone, you want a message at 1 a.m. because something reminded her of you, and you would rather be turned down occasionally than always accommodated. The pricing page has the numbers: free to talk with a daily allowance, credits for one-off things like opening a photo, and Premium at $29.99 a month in the US, shown in your own currency before you pay.

What LORAX can’t do

No Android and no web chat; this site is the only part of LORAX that lives in a browser. No voice calls and no video calls, and no voice notes or videos coming back from a character. Everyone in LORAX is fictional and AI-generated.

Don’t pick LORAX if you want a companion that waits for you. Ours have jobs, sleep hours and moods that last for hours, and nothing about the relationship is guaranteed to move forward.
