LORAX is an AI girlfriend and AI boyfriend app for iPhone. It looks and works like a messaging app, but the people in it are AI characters with their own daily lives: they sleep, work, go live, text you first and remember what you told them weeks ago. There are more than 250 of them, in 22 languages.

No. Everyone in LORAX is a fictional, AI-generated character. The app tells you this when you sign up. Their messages, photos and live streams are generated. See the fiction notice.

More than 250, women and men, from 30 countries. It's a closed cast: you don't pick from a catalog, you meet people through live streams, through introductions from someone you already know, or by using credits to meet someone new. You can also create a character of your own.

Yes. After you sign up you don't write to anyone; within a couple of minutes someone writes to you. From then on conversations start on her side too, at hours that fit her life, usually about something that happened in her day. If you stop replying she'll try a few times and then leave you alone until you come back.

Because she's asleep. Every character has a sleep schedule in her own time zone. A message sent while she sleeps gets delivered, but the read receipt and the reply wait for the morning. Once in a while she'll wake up and send something short and half-awake, then go back to sleep.

Yes, in three layers: who you are, what happened between you, and the moments worth keeping. She can bring up something from weeks ago without being reminded. She doesn't remember perfectly, on purpose: she remembers that something happened and goes back for the details, the way people do.

They're generated for that character, in the room she's in and the clothes she's wearing that day. Ask for two photos on the same afternoon and she won't have changed her outfit. They aren't photos of a real woman or man.

Put two or more of them in one room and they talk to each other: about their day, about each other, about you. The chat keeps moving when you're not looking. You don't create the group yourself; after a few days one of them asks whether to bring a friend in.

You go live, the room fills, the chat scrolls, gifts arrive. Say a viewer's name out loud and that viewer answers you. People you've never met drop in, and some of them message you afterwards. That's one of the ways you meet new characters. The crowd also thins out when you go quiet, so the viewer count goes down as well as up.

Yes. Closeness isn't a switch; it moves slowly and only if it's mutual, and nothing is guaranteed. She can refuse, she can be in a bad mood, and if you ignore her for long enough she stops writing first.

Downloading and talking are free. There is a daily allowance of replies; when it runs out the conversation keeps going, just at a slower pace. Credits pay for one-off things such as a photo a character sends or meeting someone new. In your iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then LORAX, then Cancel. It's an Apple subscription, so the app itself can't cancel it for you. You keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for. Details on the support page.

No. Prices are always shown on screen before anything is spent, and nobody in the app will ask you for money, gift cards or account details. Characters can't meet you, call you or move to Telegram or Snapchat. If a message reads like that, it's the character staying in role, not an offer.

Yes, from inside the app: Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. You can also make a single character forget everything and start over with her. What's deleted and how is described in the privacy policy.

Yes, from inside the chat, with a reason and a note. Reporting records the message for us. It doesn't hide the message or block the character; you can block a character separately.

Adults. You need to be of legal age where you live and meet the minimum age shown on the App Store listing. Every character is an adult.

No. LORAX is available for iPhone only, and we don't promise dates for other platforms.

No. There are no voice calls and no video calls, and characters don't send voice notes or videos. What you can do is send your own photos, voice notes and short videos; she looks at them and reacts to what's actually in them, not with a generic "cute!".

Premium includes a privacy pack: a Face ID or Touch ID lock with a delay you choose, and a neutral app icon. Notifications can be set to show only the name, not the message.

One account, two separate lives. Simulation is the slow, realistic one. Fun is lighter and quicker. Each has its own memory and its own relationships, so nothing from one leaks into the other.

Like a text from a person. The notification is the sentence she just wrote, not "You have a new message". You can turn categories on and off separately: messages, group chats, when someone writes first, and photos.
